Special opportunity to attend two back to back conferences
June 25-July 2nd 2021 in Greece
We would like to bring to your attention a special opportunity to attend two back to back computer science conferences taking place in two beautiful islands in Greece in June 2021.
- The 17th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations ( AIAI ) on the island of CRETE (June 25-27, 2021) and
- The 14th International Conference on The PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA ) on the island of CORFU (June 29-July 2nd).
Thus, one could attend both conferences in a period of one week, by flying first to Crete for AIAI and then flying from Crete to Corfu for PETRA, perhaps with a short stopover in Athens!

Update to the EANN/AIAI Community from the organisers
November, 2020
Dear colleagues/friends of the AIAI/EANN community,
Developments in the Covid-19 virus, have created a worldwide tragedy that we are watching on a daily basis hoping to end as soon as possible. After 17 years of holding AIAI and 22 of hodling EANN, very strong links have been developed with the members of our scientific community. In fact, we are all members of the EANN/AIAI Society, sharing our common scientific research interests/visions.
This has been proven very clearly in last year’s (2020) event, with the high volume of submissions despite the major challenges facing our societies.
We wish to thank you very much for that!!
Human health is the most important asset of all. We are interested in the health and wellbeing of all our community, under the challenging circumstances that we are all facing.
We hope that the crisis ends in due time (till end of June 2021) and to hold the conference in the arranged fantastic, real paradise venue.
No matter what happens, we have proven last year that we can organize the conferences interactively through the web, or in a hybrid mode.
For the 2021 events, if the virus is still present, we will keep both options open. The colleagues of our EANN/AIAI Society will be able to chose between live presentation from the venue and remote presentation using Webex platform.

Utilizing Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) for AI acceleration without noticing it !
Prof. Yannis Papaefstathiou
Three years ago, in AIAI I have presented an overview of how the designers can utilize FPGAs in their embedded systems, through the use of High-Level-Synthesis (HLS) Tools. In this tutorial we will dive into the new development approaches that allow the designer to take full advantage of FPGAs, both in the Cloud and on the Edge, while barely noticing that their core processing is executed on reconfigurable logic. The new emerging design flow is based on seamlessly utilizing open-source accelerated libraries that are being optimized for execution on the new highly heterogeneous FPGA-based systems.

6th Workshop on “5G – Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge” (5G-PINE 2021)
The 6th 5G-PINE Workshop has been established to disseminate knowledge obtained from ongoing EU projects as well as from any other action of EU-funded research, in the wider thematic area of “5G Innovative Activities – Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge” and with the aim of focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern 5G telecommunications infrastructures.
This should take place by emphasizing upon associated results, methodologies, trials, concepts and/or findings originating from technical reports/deliverables, from related pilot actions and/or any other relevant 5G-based applications, intending to enhance intelligence to the network edges.
Workshop on “AI Ethics”
The workshop on AI Ethics is organized by the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom. More information will follow shortly.
